The Kofi Percussion Discussion

The Kofi Percussion Discussion, lead by Kofi Kari Kari, played an assortment of drums from across the Commonwealth at ComCelebrate!.

He has previously played with Tom Jones, Chris de Burgh, Phil Collins, Michael Bolton, Chaka Khan, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Westlife, Julio Iglesias, East 17, Vanessa Mae, Soul II Soul and Jamiroquai.

Mr Kari Kari, whose family originally came from Ghana, commented that in centuries past, drums served as an instrument for communication between villages. His fascination for drums has led him to accumulate more than 100 of these instruments from around the world. He has drums from Brazil, Egypt, The Gambia, Ghana, India, Japan, Nigeria, Peru, Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates, and he is still adding more to his collection.
